BETHLEHEM, N.Y. (WRGB) - A Guilderland man is behind bars for leading authorities on a high speed chase across three towns.

Police say he was caught trying to buy items with counterfeit money from undercover investigators.

When authorities attempted to take 29-year-old Adam Ruf into custody, he nearly ran over a secret service agent. The chase went through Bethlehem, Albany and Rensselaer.

Authorities suspended the chase, but Guilderland police caught him hours later.

Authorities began investigating Ruf last month after he allegedly bought an item on Craiglist using counterfeit money. That item was being sold by a Bethlehem resident.
