DUANESBURG, N.Y. (WRGB) - Harmful algae blooms have been detected in both Mariaville and Duane lakes -- two popular recreation spots in western Schenectady County.
The town of Duanesburg is telling residents to avoid contact with discolored water. The town supervisor tells CBS6’s media partners at The Daily Gazette that he estimates around 200 residents in the area normally take drinking water from the lakes.
Town officials are urging residents to not drink from the water until the harmful algae bloom subsides.
