WATERVLIET, NY (WRGB) — Two men, one released hours prior from a correctional facility, were arrested following a traffic stop in Watervliet.
Watervliet police say at around 8:00 PM on February 14th, officers stopped a vehicle in the area of Broadway at Seventh Street for a traffic violation.
During the stop, police say the driver, identified as Jeffrey Meadows III was driving with a suspended license.

Police say they also recovered a loaded handgun from inside the vehicle.
20-year-old Meadows and the passenger, Kamao Douglas, were arrested.
Meadows was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, aggravated unlicensed operation and other traffic violations.
Douglas, 20, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm.

Police say hours before the arrest, Douglas was released from the Washington Correctional Facility, serving 14 months on an assault charge.
This was connected to a September 2020 shooting.
Douglas was remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility. Meadows was released on $50,000 bail.
