Irish fugitive arrested in Guilderland accused of nearly 400 sex crimes against minors
GUILDERLAND, N.Y. (WRGB) - Federal authorities tracked down a fugitive at a Guilderland apartment complex.
According to this federal complaint the suspect is facing nearly 400 sex offense charges, but the crimes he's accused of were committed in Ireland!
The complaint calls for the extradition of Raymond Donlon from the united states to Ireland.
According to the information provided to the U.S. by Ireland's government, Donlon is currently charged with 394 criminal counts arising from his protracted sexual abuse of two minor victims.
The alleged abuses happened between the years 2004 and 2009.
Authorities say Donlon met the minors through his work as a coach, sports photographer and office administrator in Longford, Ireland which is near Dublin.
Homeland security tracked Donlon to an apartment near the intersection of Routes 20 and 146 in Guilderland, where authorities believe he'd been living since April.
Donlon is in custody. He appeared in court Thursday and is due for an extradition hearing January 25th.
We reached out to authorities in Ireland to try and get a photo of Donlon, but we're told the jurisdiction never provides photos of accused persons.
We also tried reaching Homeland Security to find out what Donlon was doing in Guilderland or if he had any interaction with children during his time here, but we were not able to reach anyone due to the government shutdown.
We'll keep you posted.
