ALBANY, N.Y. (WRGB) - There's a positive update about an Albany Airport firefighter who is fighting for his life.

Josh Woodward's wife says he's moving in the right direction but still has a long fight ahead of him.

Josh was taken to the ICU over a week ago after he went into septic shock following an infection.

In public Facebook posts, his wife Chelsea shares that Josh is awake, conscious and forming his own thoughts.

She's hopeful that he may eventually be able to rehab at home, once he's received all the treatment he needs at the hospital.

Josh's fight has inspired the Capital Region. A Go Fund Me page for the Woodward family has topped $89,000.

The company Twill is also selling clothes to support the family.
