Local student leads annual "Hatsgiving" drive

A local high school student is getting ready for Thanksgiving in a special way. He’s collecting hats, to give to pediatric cancer patients.

Jeremy Wernick came up with the idea a few years ago, after he shaved his head to raise money for childhood cancer research. He realized then that those who lose their hair during treatment could use something to help them stay warm during the cold months. He started collecting hats to donated to patients at Albany Medical Center.

He will be collecting until Nov. 21 at, all Sunmark and Recovery Grill locations.
