TROY, NY (WRGB)--While most of them can't vote next week, students at one local school district did make their pick for president in a mock election Thursday.
We went to Troy High School Thursday morning, and the principal there tells us doing a mock election - teaches kids early on the importance of being a part of the democratic process.
Students we spoke to - took away other positive ideas from the mock election.
"It's a good exercise to do in schools because I guess you can get to see what the new generation is going to bring to the table," said Louis Blair.
"Knowing that in a couple years, next election I could vote, it's good practice for us because growing up my parents didn't really talk to me about it, and knowing I can come into class and I know how to vote," said Tatianna Bowick.
We didn't ask the students who they voted for.
But, the results will be shown to students Friday.
