Man accused of driving with a BAC more than 4x legal limit in New Scotland

    NEW SCOTLAND, N.Y. (WRGB)- An Amenia, New York man was arrested in Albany County on Wednesday, accused of driving with a blood alcohol content over four times the legal limit.

    The Albany County Sheriff's Office says 40-year-old Jason Ostapczuk was pulled over after driving 70 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone while entering the oncoming lane on State Route 443 in the Town of New Scotland.

    Deputies say Ostapczuk handed them a hotel room key when they asked for his driver's license. Deputies also say Ostapczuk failed field sobriety tests, and his blood alcohol content was tested at 0.35%. The legal limit is 0.08%.

    A search of his vehicle revealed numerous liquor bottles, deputies added.

    Ostapczuk was charged with aggravated DWI, DWI, and numerous other traffic violations. He is set to appear in the Town of New Scotland court on March 28.
