Police:Motorcyclist dies after crash in Schenectady

A motorcycle crashed Monday in the area of Cutler Street and Fifth Avenue.

UPDATE: Schenectady Police say the motorcyclist, identified as 22-year-old James Fournier, has died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Police say Fournier was transported to Ellis Hospital where he died from his injures Monday evening.

Police say they are still investigating, but say they believe speed was a factor.


SCHENECTADY -- A man is hospitalized Monday night after a motorcycle crash earlier in the day.

Police say officers were dispatched at roughly 5:18 p.m. to the area of Cutler Street and Fifth Avenue, for a reported motorcycle accident.

On arrival, officers found a male with apparent serious injuries lying in the road, and a motorcycle nearby, badly damaged.

The victim, a 22-year-old male, was transported to Ellis Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Members of the Schenectady Police Department's Traffic Division and Evidence Technician Unit are investigating, and so far the cause of the accident is unknown.

The victim is listed in serious condition.
