GLENVILLE, NY (WRGB) The Empire State Development has announced that a nationwide producer of cheese is planning on building a new facility in Glenville.
BelGioioso Cheese plans to build the 100,000 square foot manufacturing facility on 40 acres at the Glenville Business and Technology Park.
Glenville Town Supervisor Chris Koetzle said, "This is a huge win for Glenville and a great team effort by the state, Metroplex, and the town. This is another example of the tremendous growth and progress we are experiencing in Glenville and, specifically, at the Business Park."
Plans for the new facility will be reviewed by the Town of Glenville Planning and Zoning Commission.
BelGioioso Cheese, founded in 1979, produces specialty Italian cheeses. In a release they say that the facility will create 46 new jobs and retain 31 local employees.
The Empire State Development agency says that they have agreed to provide up to $850,000 in tax credits through the Excelsior Jobs Program.
Empire State Development says they will also use milk from local dairy farms.
