ALBANY, NY (WRGB) On Wednesday, Gov Cuomo announced that arenas and stadiums with 10,000 or more will be able to open, but with restrictions.

CBS6 reached out to Bob Belber, the General Manager of the Times Union Center to see if there is a plan in motion.

However, Belber calls the announcement bittersweet, saying that while he thanks Cuomo for his willingness to allow them to open, 10% capacity will mean that out of the entire arena, that equals seating for under 1,500 people.

"This restriction will likely keep promoters and teams from being able to host events due to expenses being higher than revenues that can be generated. So we see this news today as being bitter sweet." said Belber.

Belber says that if the capacity was raised to 25%, that would allow 3,000 – 3,500 seats, which he says would "help us land bookings and it will greatly help get the arena back open again.”
