Otsego County man accused of murders caught in Schoharie County

OTSEGO COUNTY -- "Our deputies out there last night did a superb job."

Heading down the highway in Schoharie County, Sheriff's deputies spotted a pickup truck reported missing, involved in a double homicide.

"They attempted to stop him, the driver continued eastbound on I-88," said Schoharie County Sheriff Tony Desmond.

Sheriff Desmond says police pursued 23 year old Kevin Perry, the chase only ending when he crashed into a guardrail.

Perry was arrested, accused of shooting and killing his parents, 59 year old Timothy Perry and 52 year old Solveige Perry, in their Otsego County home.

Otsego County Sheriff Richard Devlin says the victims were found by their daughter.

"When she found the deceased, she ran next door to a family member's house and called for help," Devlin explained.

Sheriff Devlin says Perry was captured about 45 minutes from the crime scene about one hour after the 911 call was made.

He says he's grateful for the help from Schoharie County deputies.

"I mean we could still be using our resources trying to track him down so at least we knew where he was at that point and could concentrate our efforts on some other things with the case."

Perry is charged with First Degree Murder and Criminal Use of a Firearm. He is being held at Otsego County Correctional Facility without bail.

Officials say they are still investigating a motive.
