ALBANY, NY (WRGB)--A peaceful protest against a proposed pipeline made its way to Albany Wednesday.
People taking part in the "Water Walk for Life: started their march against the Pilgrim Pipleline in New Jersey.
The planned pipeline would run underground between Albany and Linden, NJ.
One protester told us they want to raise awareness about the possible effect on water.
"Each step in this walk, as we drum and chant and also build connections with people in every community we pass through each step is a prayer for water," said Jim Suriano of Troy.
The website for Pilgrim Pipeline Holdings says federal statistics make it clear pipelines are the safest mode for transporting oil and petroleum products.
