Police: husband, wife accused of using someone's identity to have power turned on
FORT ANN, NY (WRGB) A husband and wife were charged for their part in a scheme to have power turned on to a property in Fort Ann, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Department.
Investigators say 34 year old Joseph Marr and his wife Nicole Marr, 31, used the identity of someone he knew to have National Grid turn on power to a former address on Hadlock Pond Road in Fort Ann.
The Sheriff's Department say that the Marr’s used the identity of the acquaintance from April 29, 2015 through June 20, 2017, racking up a National Grid bill of $2032.61 in the name of the victim.
Investigators say the scheme was exposed when the victim, who was in prison at the time, found out about the bill when they attempted to have power connected.
Joseph Marr was charged with felony identity theft and conspiracy.
Nicole Marr was charged with conspiracy, then released on an appearance ticket.
