Police investigate after unlocked cars ransacked in Delmar

DELMAR, N.Y. (WRGB) - The Bethlehem Police Department is investigating 15 reports of overnight thefts from unlocked vehicles in Delmar.

Police say the majority of the thefts took place in the Old Delmar neighborhood overnight from Wednesday into Thursday. Police say items like change, electronics and personal property was stolen.

Anyone with surveillance footage of that area is asked to check it. Anyone with information on the incidents can call police at 518-439-9973.

Bethlehem Police suggest following precautions in an effort to prevent becoming a victim of these types of crimes:

-Ensure all vehicles parked outside overnight are locked at all times

-Leave valuables out of view in the vehicle

-Leave exterior lightning, or motion lights, on overnight
