#UPDATE: Schenectady Health Department has lifted the boil water order in Rotterdam They advise running your water for up to 5 minutes to clear the lines. Discard ice made while the order was in effect.
Schenectady County has issued boil water order for a small portion of the town of Rotterdam due to a water main break.
All customers in the area of Hollywood Ave. between Fairlane Rd. and Curry Rd. are ordered to boil all water for drinking and cooking use until further notice.
According to Schenectady County, residents in the affected area need to bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one (1) minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water certified for sale by the New York State Department of Health. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills most bacteria and other organisms in the water.
