TROY, N.Y. (WRGB) - A Troy man has been arrested in connection to the death of a 21-year-old Schodack woman.
Troy police say 34-year-old Rashad Edwards was arrested on an indictment warrant charging him in connection with the homicide of Brianna Haughton.
Haughton, who leaves behind a young child, was killed on January 13 in a Pawling Ave. home police say is connected to Edwards.
Police would not say if that child has a connection to Edwards. When Haughton's body was found, there were concerns for the child's safety but the infant was ultimately found safe.
Police say Edwards had been a person of interest since the time of the murder when a call came in about a man who knew Haughton being treated for significant wounds at a hospital. Police confirmed that Edwards is that man.
Edwards is currently incarcerated at the Rensselaer County Jail. He is set to appear for arraignment in Rensselaer County Court on Wednesday.
Police say a formal reading of charges will happen at that time.
