RENSSELAER, N.Y. (WRGB) The damaging, heavy winds across the region Monday left their mark on the City of Rensselaer. The roof of the Rensselaer Little League concession stand was blown off.

Mayor Rich Mooney says city DPW workers raced to secure the roof and building, as well as place plywood on top.

The building where they work is near the field.

“They take a personal pride in the Little League field. So they’re always watching out for Little League, and Little League is a special place for residents of Rensselaer,” said Mayor Mooney.

Many businesses reached out to help.

The American Legion Gerald O'Neil Post 1683 first volunteered to pay for a roof. But now they will just cover the cost of a temporary tarp. That’s because another business, Titan Roofing, has agreed to build a new rubberized roof so this doesn’t happen again.

Wind caused other damage. A few streets away, a tree was blown over, blocking the road.

And bricks now line a sidewalk after they were blown off the side of the Auto Parts store right next to the Rensselaer Police Department.
