ROTTERDAM, NY (WRGB) - Police have charged the driver of a vehicle involved in an early morning crash.

Rotterdam Police responded to a crash early Tuesday morning on Curry Road.

Initial calls for the accident came in around 1:15am. Police say an officer saw a car speeding down Altamont Avenue. Before they could pull it over, the car disappeared from their sight, and they soon found it had crashed in the parking lot of Gabriel's Super Market.

Police say it appears the car lost control or didn't realize there was a bend in the road at the intersection, and veered off into the lot.

That car crashed into a concrete retaining wall.

The driver was airlifted to Albany Medical Center. His two female passengers were taken to Albany Med by ambulance. Police say they all have critical injuries.

That driver, 27 year old Michael Edwards, was charged with DWI, and could face other charges following the full police investigation.

All three are being treated for critical injuries.
