Rotterdam Police warning residents after increase in scam calls.

ROTTERDAM, NY (WRGB) Police in Rotterdam have issued a warning to residents after an influx of scam calls, all out to steal your money and your identity.

Police say there are several versions of the scam calls, such as claims you have won the lotto, owing money to the IRS, and or computer repair/virus removal.

Police say they are even able to make the number on your caller ID look as if it has come from a legitimate company.

Rotterdam police say that anyone asking for payment in the form of gift cards is almost definitely not a legitimate transaction.

If you feel you have been a victim of this type of crime or need advice on a caller that you are currently dealing with, you may call the Rotterdam Police Department at (518) 630-0911.
