RPI football player honored for heroic action
TROY, N.Y. (WRGB) - An RPI student was honored by his city for an act of quick-thinking heroism.
Reuben Clarke was on the Amtrak train that detached from one of its cars last month. Clarke remembers his experience vividly, saying it was a matter of taking action and just doing what he could.
"Twenty minutes after we leave the train, someone just wakes me and I look to the back of the train car and I see that the car is detached," Clarke said. "There was a huge load of panic in the car. I was kind of scared myself. But something came into me and said, 'Control what you can control.'"
Amtrak says there were no reported injuries and the cause of the car separation is being investigated.
