CAPITAL REGION (WRGB) — A run to benefit the Ronald McDonald House in Albany is back on track this year, after the COVID shutdown.
Sasha’s Superhero Run was in-person and virtual this year; runners and families spent Sunday morning at the Halfmoon Town Park to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House, and honor families who have lost a child.
The race organizers lost their son Sasha on Christmas Eve in 2016, when he was only 24 days old. They created this event to carry on a positive legacy.

Olya Prevo-White, Sasha’s mom and race organizer, said,
“It kind of takes super hero powers to go on after a child dies, and we wanted to bring those families together, so we’re here in memory of Sasha, but there are a lot of other families that are here in memory of their children. We are grateful for everyone who came and supported us.”
This is the fifth year of the event. They raised about $6,000 this year, and about $50,000 over the past 5 years.
