ALBANY, NY (WRGB) — An Albany, convicted on a weapons charge, found to be in possession of a loaded illegal handgun was sentenced to prison.
31-year-old Ahquis Tarver was found guilty on January 18th, of criminal possession of a handgun.
On Thursday, May 26, 2022 around 6:45 p.m., officers responded to the area of First and Quail Streets for a report of a person with a weapon.

When officers arrived, the victim told officers that he saw a person riding what he believed to be his stolen bicycle and that when he approached the person to ask them about the bicycle, the man, later identified as Tarver, threatened him with a handgun.
On March 21st, 2023 he was sentenced to 11 years in state prison with 5 years probation.
