Sheriff: Two dead after Warren County car crash
CHESTER -- A two-car crash resulted in two fatalities Saturday morning.
The Warren County Sheriff's Office received a report just before 10 a.m. for a serious crash on State Route 8, near Hill Clyde Acres.
According to the sheriff's office, Walter Christie, 89, of Chestertown, was eastbound on Route 8 in a 2004 Subaru legacy, when he failed to negotiate a curve and veered into the westbound lane, into the path of a 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander.
Christie and John M. Lewis, 70, of Chestertown, who was driving the Outlander, were transported to Glens Falls Hospital, where they died as a result of their injuries. Lewis' passenger, Ralph E. Lewis, 66, of Burnt Hills, was also transported, with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
The Warren County Sheriff's Office Traffic Safety Unit and Criminal Investigations Division continues to investigate the crash. Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors.
