Troy police chief, set to retire, reflects on career
Troy Police Chief John Tedesco still remembers what his partner Sal Verdile said to him on his first day on the job, 42 years ago.
"Remember every day, it's going to fly by, and I said naah....(but his words ring true now)."
And as days flew by he saw big changes in his department that made fighting crime easier--technology, certainly, but he says the biggest change has been the cooperation between police agencies ... something that didn't exist when he joined the force.
Friday morning, Tedesco will take the ceremonial walk out of his office, as he retires after 42 years in the department.
Tedesco has spent the past eight of those years heading up the department.
