Troy Police: Drugs, guns, ammunition recovered, 4 arrested
TROY, NY (WRGB) What started as a house visit by probation officers checking on a resident on probation for felony marijuana charges turned into a major drug and gun bust in Troy on Thursday night.
"It's really some scary stuff..."
Troy police Captain Dan DeWolf says the scene inside the second floor of 14 Linden Ave. was of major concern to law enforcement.
"They found some drugs and some ammunition in plain view," DeWolf said.
Police say the four suspects lived at the upstairs apartment - but they say they were checking on Demier Klevitchgay, 23, who was on probation from felony marijuana charges out of Virginia. They filed and executed a search warrant.
"Low and behold we came up with four handguns, and assault rifle a MAC 10 machine gun," DeWolf said.
Officials say they also found two pounds of marijuana, nearly 62 grams of ketamine and $4,000 in cash. Everything, including the guns, was entered into evidence.
"They're all fully functional, 150 rounds of ammunition as well, it's frightening."
DeWolf says there was no obvious sign of plans to use the weapons, but some were loaded.
"They're facing heavy felony charges," he said of the suspects.
All four were arrested and arraigned in Troy city court Friday morning.
"I'm glad that this led to this, that we were able to get all those ins and drugs and stuff so this is a real win for the good guys."
The suspects were remanded without bail to the Rensselaer County Jail - police say this was part of a Gun Involved Violence Initiative within the department.
