Troy police officer, detective indicted by grand jury
TROY, NY (WRGB) A Troy police officer and detective have been indicted by a Rensselaer County grand jury on Friday for allegations that the department’s drug unit searched a home without a warrant and doctored records to make it appear they were looking into a burglary.
Ronald Epstein faces 14 counts, while detective John Comitale Jr. was charged with four counts. Both pleaded not guilty.
The indictments stem from a June 9, 2017, incident where the Firearms Interdiction and Narcotics Suppression (FINS) unit entered a house on 112 Oakwood Ave. in Troy.
