The next stage in bringing a Chick-fil-A to Clifton Park is set to begin, as the Town says the chicken restaurant franchise has been given the "green light" to begin construction.
"They have all of their permits issued from the Town," Town of Clifton Park Deputy Supervisor Anthony Morelli says. "It's really on them on when they're ready to demolish the old building and break ground on the new building."
The location in mind is 304 Clifton Park Center Road, a former Pier One store location. Morelli says they're looking at a timeframe of March or April of 2023 for the opening.
MORE: As reported by CBS6 News, this will be one of two Chick-fil-A stores to open in the Capital Region on that day.
Officials say they hope the dual opening would help alleviate potential major traffic problems, something that was a key part of the application process.
"It was a challenge," Morelli says. "As a town we scrutinized very heavily because of the additional traffic it would bring into the area. They were really set on that location and we're happy they were set on that location, but we wanted to make sure they got the traffic patterns right and I think we did it, it's gonna be busy."
