Gillibrand: U.S. Senate set to vote on opioid legislation
ALBANY, N.Y. (WRGB) - New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand says the U.S. Senate is poised to vote on critical opioid legislation.
Gillibrand says the senate will likely vote on a bill that included $3.7 million in federal funding for treatment and prevention efforts in combatting the opioid epidemic.
Gillibrand says last year that epidemic took the lives of nearly 50,000 Americans, including 3,500 in New York.
The bill represents a funding increase of $145 million over last year.
