Victim in Friday shooting charged for his part in incident, and others
ALBANY -- A man who was shot on Third Street Friday faces charges of his own in connection with the incident.
Police say officers responded to the area of Third Street and North Manning Boulevard Friday afternoon for reports of shots fired. Not long after that, Albany Medical Center staff notified police that a male had arrived at the emergency room with a gunshot wound to the leg.
Jamir Hartfield, 19, of Albany, was treated for the wound and taken into custody.
Through investigation, it was determined that Hartfield possessed a loaded handgun during the incident on Third Street, and had fired shots before being injured. He was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd.
Hartfield was also charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd for a separate incident that occurred on Jan. 16 in the same area. Investigation into that incident found he had a loaded handgun.
In addition, Hartfield was charged with Criminal Mischief 2nd and Trespass for an incident on Jan. 6 on Anderson Drive. Police say he damaged two vehicles by standing and jumping on their hoods.
The investigation into the Feb. 8 shooting continues.
