More than $2.3 million worth of marijuana seized by Border Patrol
LAREDO, Texas —
Border Patrol agents seized 3,000 pounds of marijuana Sunday with an estimated value of more than $2.3 million.
Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents said they were inspecting a tractor pulling a flatbed trailer Sunday night around 10 p.m. when a Border Patrol K-9 alerted to the possible presence of illegal contraband in the vehicle.
After further inspection, agents found several bundles of narcotics. When agents tested the bundles, it was confirmed that the bundles contained marijuana.
A total of 116 bundles of marijuana that weighed about 2,981 pounds were seized. The estimated value of the marijuana was more than $2.3 million.
The driver of the truck and the narcotics were taken into custody and will be turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
