WASHINGTON (Circa) - President Donald Trump is saying that Attorney General Jeff Sessions should put an end to the investigation into Russian meddling of the 2016 presidential election.

The tweet was one of several on Wednesday morning pertaining to the Russia investigation. The President first stating that FBI agent Peter Strzok should have recused himself from the investigation.

“Bob Mueller is totally conflicted, and his 17 Angry Democrats that are doing his dirty work are a disgrace to USA!” the president added.

He then asserts that Special Counsel Robert Mueller will protect, Strzok and others from the FBI.

Sessions recused himself from the Russia investigation last year, when he failed to state during a congressional hearing that he had contact with Russia’s ambassador to Washington. The president has been critical of Sessions decision to recuse himself from the investigation.

Trump also tweeted on former campaign chairman Paul Manafort.

Trump is trying to distance himself from Manafort, who led Trump's efforts to secure the GOP presidential nomination in 2016. Trump tweets that Manafort "He worked for me for a very short time."

Manafort was the campaign chairman for about five months in 2016.
