Her 12-year-old son, Cory Clabon, was born with sickle cell disease and his kidneys are functioning at less than 50 percent (Kinetic Kidney)
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WSET) -- A mother in Virginia Beach is hoping someone out there can help her sick son.
Her 12-year-old son, Cory Clabon, was born with sickle cell disease and his kidneys are functioning at less than 50 percent.
Jessica Josephine said he was diagnosed with a rare kidney disorder at just three-years-old.
The boy has been getting blood transfusion therapy to treat the disorder and a lot of his life has been spent at the hospital.
A few months ago, Cory's mom told WTKR that they learned his treatments were not enough and now he needs a new kidney between the next six-12 months in order to avoid going on dialysis.
"The kidney donor has to have Type O blood - positive or negative - and they have to live in the area," Josephine told WTKR.
She's now taking her plea to social media, creating a Facebook page called Kinetic Kidney, to keep family and friends updated and to all ask for help.
Josephine has also provided information on how to become a kidney donor.
She hopes that people who read her post will also consider donating even if they can't help Cory.
If you want to help, you can email her atKidney4Cory@gmail.com.
