Senate Ethics Committee puts out 2018 report
ALBANY, N.Y. (WRGB) – CBS6 has a “You Paid For It” update. And this one is hard to believe -- almost.
The infamous Senate Ethics Committee - the committee that went years without meeting - has put out its report for 2018
It may be the shortest report in New York legislative history. After the title page and the listing of members, there is just this -- four short sentences on one page that is otherwise blank.
The report says just two things -- that the committee published a newsletter in 2018, and more importantly, that the committee did not meet in 2018.
At the top of the page, you can see video of the committee meeting in 2017. That was after an eight year hiatus. Chairman Elaine Philipps promised me the committee would be more active, but after that -- crickets -- again nothing but empty chairs in 2018.
Phillips, a Republican, lost her re-election bid. The new democratic chair is vowing that the committee will be active. CBS6 will be watching.
