Gatorade taps JG III as player of the year
The Gatorade "Player of the Year" awards program began in 1985. None of the first 30 New York boys' winners came from our area.
That changed in 2016,with Shenendehowa's Kevin Huerter. In 2017, Albany Academy's Hameir Wright was named.
And this year, Glens Falls junior Joe Girard III is making it a Capital District three-peat.
"JG3-K" averaged 50 points, seven rebounds, and six assists per game this season.
He also plays football, volunteers in the community, and maintains an A- average in the classroom.
He will receive a $1,000 grant to donate to the youth sports organization of his choice.
