Shen, BH-BL square off in girls field hockey (WRGB)

CLIFTON PARK, NY (WRGB)---Every year, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake and Shenendehowa have two of the best field hockey programs in the state.

This season - it's no different.

Shen is the defending state champion in Class A, but both programs have sectional titles to defend.

Tonight's meeting is a grudge match for the Spartans, who lost out on the Suburban Council title to the Plainsmen in 2016.

Both teams undefeated as they meet under the lights at Brent Steuerwald Stadium in Clifton Park.

Shen's Hanna Crounse takes a rip but it's Julia Chang who deke's and fires corner pocket and the senior puts her team in front early.

Late in the first half, Kelli Russo cranks a shot from 10 yards.

The ball scoots by the Spartans goalie and Maddy Dunne cleans it up as Shen snags a 2-goal lead.

They hold on to win 2-0.
