ALBANY, NY (WRGB) According to the Times Union Center and the National Arena League, The Albany Empire are making a return to arena football in the Capital District.
On Tuesday, the team name was announced as part of the 9 team National Arena League.
Their season is set to start in April of 2021.
The Albany Empire had a winning record of 22-7 from 2018-2019, also winning ArenaBowl XXXII
Back in November of 2019, Arena Football League filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, ceasing operations leaving fans without an arena football team.

The Empire name is synonymous with winning and excitement,” exclaimed Rob Keefe, Head Coach, Albany Empire. “We are going to do everything possible to win games and continue to build an awesome culture for Albany and the Capital Region."
