This map displays how far temperatures depart from the 30 year average globally and is useful in illustrating where anomalously cold and warm regions exist. On this date, anomalously cold air was over parts of Alaska, much of western and central Canada and a large part of the U.S. as well as across much of Europe. Warmer than average air simultaneously existed over much of the rest of Globe.
